Wilma Bissiallon began employment with Serpent River First Nation Economic Development Corporation on May 2, 2016. Wilma is a member of the Mississauga First Nation and has had a home there for the past eighteen (18) years. Wilma has extensive work experience within the private and public sectors along with working with First Nations within the North Shore Tribal Council as the Executive Director for Naadmaadwiiuk Area Management Board. She has worked for her First Nation as a Bookkeeper (training position) and Economic Development Officer. Other past employers include Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, Lummus Incorporated, St. Joseph’s General Hospital and Batchewana First Nation. She received a Certificate in Economic Development from Waterloo University in 2002.
Wilma has a daughter and two grand-daughters and comes from a large family of six brothers and three sisters. She has family ties to the Thessalon and Serpent River First Nation on her father’s side and from the Mississauga and Whitefish Lake First Nation on her mother’s side. Her time is spent enjoying the occasional bingo and spending time with her grand-children. Other pastimes include board games, cooking new recipes, and watching her favourite television show ‘Big Bang Theory’.
